I've been using Linux (Mint) for a while, and really like the overall look of the Nemo file manager. Is there a similar replacement for Windows 8.1? Preferably freeware.
The main features I want are the overall look (the top and sidebar) and the tabbed browsing.

I would use WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) in order to use it, but it's only in Windows 10.
In Addition to Nemo I know only one Explorer alternate Tablacus Explorer. A tabbed file manager with Add-on support. Tablacus is Freeware too.

or, you could pay for the extremely configurable Directory Opus which I remember using on my Commodore Amiga 20 years ago! (it has been updated since then :-))
OneCommander is a nice dual panel file manager. It is in fact a bit like nemo in that it has your main stuff in the panel at the left.
OneCommander has a feature to mount drives, but it's not the same as mounting a network drive. It will mount a network location/ drive just like you normally would. But it has an additional option you might like. Not sure what's going on and i never investigated it. Maybe a Win11 drive feat?
Thus, OneCommander is quite Feature rich (e.g. never got to investigating the mount option). You can get it from the MS Store.
I prefer Freecommander, as mentioned above but I'd take OneCommander over Explorer++ or CubicExplorer. There are other dual-pane options but I haven't found anything this nice. Seems like the community is growing rapidly as well.
