this is very basic but I haven't found an answer to this yet. I have verious reasons why the actual known programs are broken:

  • Thunderbird doesn't support conversations very well
  • Windows 10 Mail is pretty good, but it has bugs like not recognizing all attachments (not fixed issue for years if you search the net). Also it doesn't cite at all when responding to an e-mail.
  • Mailbird is not a normal e-mail client as it seems, I read that privacy-wise one should not touch that

Can you recommend any other program that works correctly, that I should have a look at?

Thank you in advance!

You have not mentioned that you want a free email client, so I would suggest the most obvious choice: Outlook. It has tons of great features and tweaks to customize your experience. I have tried other free email clients but nothing matches it.

  • I guess you're right -- but, I can only use Outlook 2016

  • I am using that too, and I tried the Outlook from Office 365, and frankly, there's not a lot of difference

  • Why should it be free? The quality of a software matters more than the fact of being free (of charge) or paid. The author of the question is right not focusing only on free softwares so that all options remain open.

Have a look at THE BAT!, both from Ritlabs.

It is a serious mail software for power users and does offer a conversational thread view if you need it.

I would recommend the professional version rather than the Home version for several reasons:

  • it allows setting multiple mail accounts
  • the license also gives access to THE BAT! VOYAGER (portable version)
  • it allows commercial use (i.e. professional use)
  • it has more advanced features (advanced security features)

Setting new mail accounts is easy.

THE BAT! has lot of features and there is some learning curve if you want to really master it, but for basic mail management it is easy to use.

It is paid software, and hence not more popular because most people are not ready to spend for quality software. But to my opinion, this software is well worth its price.

You can make up your own mind by trying it for free during 30 days.
