Looking for a software that can offline transcribe text from an audio file. macOS preferred but Windows is ok.

Aiko is free and straightforward to use. It's built around OpenAI's Whisper TTS model, so it's very accurate, runs on-device, and supports a bunch of languages.
If you want something with more features, like batch transcription, MacWhisper is similarly simple to use, and sells for €30, with a free tier.
I am using vosk on Windows and I'm quite happy with it. Use the bigger models if you can.
Pro:
- simple to install
- simple to use
- speed is good
Cons:
- It sometimes doesn't correctly recognize words if they are in a foreign language, e.g. I have text in German but use English words, it may get them wrong. But it's still a huge time saver.
