I have a collection of audio files in mp3 format and I'd wish to merge some of them into a one lengthy mp3 file. For example I have 20 audio files and I need to merge them into 1 long mp3 file.

My collection is around 60GB which makes it about 1300 mp3 files in total. These are all located in the same folder.

What software would you recommend for that?

I checked a few online tools but they were not very stable resulting in failing the downloading process. But if there is any stable online solutions, I'd go with them too.

Both Console and GUI solutions will be appreciated.

The only nuance here - I expect adding new files should be as easy as it's possible. For example punching in filenames manually are excruciatingly tedious, so I'd restrain of using this method.

Preferably the method should be highly automated. The perfect case looks like:

  • Drag-n-drop into "Input field"
  • Choosing option "Merge"
    • "Output folder"
    • "Output quality"
    • "Output.mp3"

  • Hello, I'm confused. How do you expect a CLI solution to work without typing in file names? Are the files organized anyhow, so that you could do e.g. a wildcard merge like xyz-*.mp3?

  • One of the cases: superuser.com/a/1855945/1052064 The other solution would be merging every 10 files into 1 in alphabetical or any other order.

I use the freeware Makeitone Mp3 Album Maker.

Small, simple to use: you can add files and or folders, drag and drop, etc.

Besides, it is reversible: you can undo the merging to get back the original files.

There is a free online tool Audio Joiner where you an drag and drop your files.

For a desktop solution, I have been using MovAvi for years. I haven't used it for mp3 files. I have used it for mp4 files. There are step by step instructions here

There are instructions on their site as well

Basically

  • Add the files by clicking on Add Media
  • Click on Merge Files
  • You can arrange them to suit
  • Select Parameters
  • It defaults to an output folder but you can change it
  • Click on Convert`

They have a range of tools and you can try them for free. You can also buy them in lots, groups etc.

Disclaimner - I am not associated with them.

I have used a lot of online tools, and they worked nicely for me, so maybe simply try some more...

If you want something on Windows, mp3DirectCut may be an option.

You drag the files into the window and then save.
