we have a use case where we want to publish some message after some delay. there are various systems that support this functionality like

  1. airflow
  2. dcron
  3. airbnb dynein
  4. custom solution with listening to database stream and putting entries with ttl
  5. quartz

Each of these systems have additional feature set as well. If i am looking for barebone delayed event scheduling, which one of these system is more scalable? What are the parameters to compare these systems on?

  • @best wishes: What OS should the server be able to run on? What bindings should it be usable from? For instance do you need a REST API, or a Java client library?
