I hopefully (and benevolently) will give an Introduction to Programming (on Linux) series of talk (with the montpellibre.fr non-profit association).

I am looking for an opensource computer simulator (for Linux/Debian/x86-64) with a graphical interface. Something like perhaps MMIX or RISC-V (or even simpler), but showing (graphically) the memory and the registers, with the ability to emulate and single step each machine instruction.

This is for teaching what an hypothetical computer and microprocessor is (to an audience knowing nothing about computers, but interested by them)

I found js-y86 and spimsimulator and risc-v-simulator but do you know something else?
