I am checking for font encoding errors in PDF documents using gs(ghost script) with the following command to be confident that i will not be missing any text.

gs -o output.pdf -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -dPDFSETTINGS=/prepress "my_pdf.pdf"

If pdf have errors have i am getting the following message.

**** This file had errors that were repaired or ignored.
**** The file was produced by:
   **** >>>> Winnovative HTML to PDF Converter 11.3 <<<<
**** Please notify the author of the software that produced this
**** file that it does not conform to Adobe's published PDF
   **** specification

But problem with gs is it too long time(2400 secs to 3000 secs) for some documents(~300 page). Is there any way to make it fast or some other tool to check font errors fast?

  • fonts could in theory be embedded on any given page in the document. if you have a 300 page document, each page has to be checked for embedded fonts. – ivanivan Jun 24 '19 at 3:15
