I hope this questions isn't too broad. However I am creating a virtual reality video editor and came across FFmpeg as a possible tool that will support the application. My first question is: As I am using ffmpeg, I understand there is a binding asset on the unity asset store. However do I HAVE to use this asset in order to call ffmpeg from Unity? Or can I simply write a c.s that calls the functions externally?

Also is ffmpeg is optimum tool I should use for this or would a better one be out there?

I tried using the blender open source code to use their inbuilt video editor but that became a headache very quickly. I also attempted to use AVIsnyth but I believe ffmpeg is more up to date. Thank again
