I've been wondering for some time if there is an accurate software to identify songs or any music in general, by just inputting a tune. Let me be clear on this point: I mean the case when I don't have a piece of the song or melody as an .mp3 file or in any other extension.
It has happened to me that I have a tune in my head, and I just can't remember where is it from.
This may seem like a waste of time, but I am pretty sure it has a lot a practical aplications in everyday life. For example, depending on how enhanced is the software, it could be used to create some kind of online voice database (as for fingerprints), and I can't stress enough how remarkable would a tool like this be.
Anyway, I've been asking Google and there are some websites that claim to provide such a software. I've tried humming and whistling the tunes on each of the following websites:
- https://www.midomi.com/
- https://www.watzatsong.com/en
and some others. I also tried an Android app, Shazam, that was supposed to be the real deal.
Conclusion, none of them has proved to be accurate whatsoever, and I don't think it's me or my microphone. They didn't get one single tune correct.
It is weird enough to me that I had to come here and ask, since this seems a very natural question to ask oneself. Maybe it is harder that I think.
In any case, any suggestion will be welcome.
Thanks in advance ...
