Looking for some idea or an algorithm to convert a 9 digit SSN to an alternate 9 digit id. This is to protect the SSN of individuals. I would prefer to be able to convert back the alternate 9 digits back to SSN. I am ok if the alternate ID is 10 digits but 9 is preferred.

I would like this to be done either in SQL server Stored Procedure or in a function but open for suggestions.

Thanks in advanced.
