Often when I'm reading something with a text editor I use the keyboard cursor to mark what exactly I am reading right now - often selecting some text to highlight the part where I am before reviewing something that I read earlier for example. ctrl+arrows are used to move the editor up and down and the keyboard arrows themselves are using to move the cursor.

However when I'm reading a PDF I do not have that option (probably because it doesn't make sense to add a cursor if the text can't be edited) and sometimes I find myself selecting text with the mouse as a marker, but I prefer doing it with the keybord because it is a lot faster and following the text with it.

To complicate things I'm using Linux so not every PDF reader works with it.
