What I'm looking for is a VCF editor that would display .vcf files in more readable form than plain text editor.

Query functions, required by Query-based editor for VCard files (Linux) are not necessary for me.

I am not interested in webapps.

It turns out that Kontact, available as kontact Ubuntu package works well and is able to export this data into various formats. This is quite useful, as it turns out it is much easier to find Android program that will add contacts provided as a .csv file rather than one using vCard file.

  • Is there something for gnome? Kontact requires me to install so many packages from KDE! – Champ Aug 13 at 19:44

KDE spam is annoying, but it turned OK in my case. I was not searching further as it was necessary once to transfer data into saner format. And anyway since that time I reinstalled OS twice :) – Mateusz Konieczny Aug 15 at 21:04
  • You don't need the entire kontact package. Just install kaddressbook. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kontact for more info on what kontact includes. – bitoffdev Oct 25 at 15:41
