We are heavy users of the ELK stack and have been using Kibana for exploratory analysis of our logs. We're looking to move away from Elasticsearch to Cloudwatch as a store for our operations logs. Is there any Kibana like software for Cloudwatch?

I know there is Grafana, and we use it heavily, but there are use cases where Kibana outshines Grafana, and a lot of our devs prefer Kibana.

I'd prefer something that can be self hosted, but willing to go with a cloud/SaaS solution if it is worth it.

Amazon offers an Elasticsearch service that comes with Kibana. Setting up ES automatically gets you Kibana. You will not like it. Very limited. But - There is a pattern for getting CloudWatch logs into ES. Below is code installed as a Lambda function that pumps to Amazon hosted ES. You can do the same thing to your own EC2 instance running ES.

enter image description here

    // v1.1.2
var https = require('https');
var zlib = require('zlib');
var crypto = require('crypto');

var endpoint = 'search-edge-logs-73mf7h7wbvf6pjhsxexqksba6q.us-west-2.es.amazonaws.com';

exports.handler = function(input, context) {
    // decode input from base64
    var zippedInput = new Buffer(input.awslogs.data, 'base64');

    // decompress the input
    zlib.gunzip(zippedInput, function(error, buffer) {
        if (error) { context.fail(error); return; }

        // parse the input from JSON
        var awslogsData = JSON.parse(buffer.toString('utf8'));

        // transform the input to Elasticsearch documents
        var elasticsearchBulkData = transform(awslogsData);

        // skip control messages
        if (!elasticsearchBulkData) {
            console.log('Received a control message');
            context.succeed('Control message handled successfully');
            return;
        }

        // post documents to the Amazon Elasticsearch Service
        post(elasticsearchBulkData, function(error, success, statusCode, failedItems) {
            console.log('Response: ' + JSON.stringify({
                "statusCode": statusCode
            }));

            if (error) {

                if (failedItems && failedItems.length > 0) {

                        JSON.stringify(failedItems, null, 2));
                }

                context.fail(JSON.stringify(error));
