I still use Eclipse Luna.
When installing a new version of Eclipse, it will mess with the workspace/.metadata at least, so we have to backup it.
But it may also mess with files inside projects, in an irreversible way right? and I have too many projects (many are just forks I make minor changes), and I dont want to have to backup, code a bit (or a lot) and have to restore later because a newer version like Mars is creating some trouble (as it did once, was quite a trouble to restore all source files etc).
Luna has minor issues and works quite great.
I wonder what could be good reasons to upgrade to Mars or Neon? considering my target usage: to develop only Java application projects (no web, no C++, nothing else).
I feel this question may fall under opinion tho?
I was looking for Luna VS Mars VS Neon info, like release highlights, but ppl just dont answer, or there are huge loads of things I dont use and dont even know what they are about, no filtering and so on...
On the other hand, I want improvements on the debugger mainly, and any other improvements like better code completion for example, will these kind of usability things improve considerably enough to be an attractive decision?
