I am looking for an app like Skype but which supports proxy address.I have Android Marshmallow and the other phone to which I want to talk to has Android 4.2. I stay in a place where in order to connect to the internet, you have to provide a proxy hostname and proxy port. I tried Skype for video calling but couldn't get it to work. Is there any free video calling app like Skype which can handle proxy addresses and can also be installed on Android 4.2 and Android 6.

  • You mean VPN? I use Skype with this VPN app (since certain Skype features are blocked in my country) all the time, it works great. Or do you mean something else? – Revetahw says Reinstate Monica Jul 15 '16 at 10:58
  • Not necessarily a VPN. I want an app like Skype which natively supports proxies. Plus I am not looking to buy any service. – Ronnie Day Jul 15 '16 at 11:53
  • Proxy as in a remote server channeling all your traffic in the same way a VPN would? – Revetahw says Reinstate Monica Jul 15 '16 at 12:02
  • Plus what features do you need (text-chat, voice-chat, video-chat, file-exchange …)? When I pointed you here via the Android.SE Meta posting, I assumed you'd read the text and not just copy-paste your post (for that, I could have simply migrated it here ;) So the hints again: How to ask for an alternative to some software and What is required for a question to contain "enough information"?. Don't get me wrong: the question is OK, but a few more details would help :) – Izzy Jul 15 '16 at 12:21
  • Also why not just set a global proxy on the network connection and then simply use skype? – fk2 Jul 16 '16 at 6:31
