Wanting to convert tables provided in PDF into Excel spreadsheets, preferably free.

The tables are the same format on every page, with headings at the top of every table.

The headings section can be multiple rows, so like:

Name Date

Bob 11/15/2015

and I want to translate this into a CSV where it would have:

Name, Date, State

Bob, 11/15/2015, Alaska

I've tried about 15 different free programs and none have worked. We've got a program in the office (can't recall the name and won't be able to get the name for two weeks, long story).

Any ideas?

  • Since you've tried 15 different programs I think you can see that it's not easy to get data out of a PDF with automation. PDF is an endpoint, it is not easy to get data out of it. But good luck to you! Is this gov't data? Could the source have a text or CSV or TSV file? – Bulrush May 31 '16 at 18:42
