Google has notified me that some of my websites aren't being indexed because they lack site maps. There are many site map programs available, but I wondered if anyone could offer any recommendations.

I prefer something that's free or very inexpensive. My sites all run on LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP). Some are huge - over 100,000 pages.

I don't necessarily need anything fancy, though it would be nice to know about special features. However, my primary need is a simple, robust site mapper that can simply handle the basics.

P.S. I use a Mac, not Windows.

So, you're looking for software that runs on your mac, and not like a PHP library? – Tom Dec 27 '15 at 16:25
  • On second thought, that was a stupid comment; I am using a Mac, but I need to put the sitemap online - on a Linux server. – David Blomstrom Dec 27 '15 at 23:26
  • Would you be willing to use an online service? Because there are several services that create site maps for you but I do not think they will do a 100000 page site – Aiden Grossman Dec 31 '15 at 20:47
  • Yes, I would certainly take a look at online services. – David Blomstrom Jan 2 '16 at 4:50
  • Over 100k pages could be an issue (see stackoverflow.com/questions/4819291/…), but is there a reason you can't write a PHP script yourself to generate the site map? (I'm assuming it's a database driven site rather than 100k static pages) – gabe3886 Jan 13 '16 at 14:20

What is wrong with Google's own sitemap generator? It works for me and you can be cure that Google will index your site if you use it ;-)
